What Austrian websites must do.
Since 28 June 2025, Austria's Web Accessibility Act (WZG) has been in force. It implements the EU Accessibility Directive and largely mirrors the German BFSG. The MCS accounts for Austrian specifics.
What the MCS checks for Austria
WZG Compliance (WCAG 2.2 AA)
Same technical basis as BFSG, but Austrian implementation deadlines and national adaptations. The MCS checks WCAG 2.2 AA with Austrian focus — including German and English language versions.
Austrian GDPR Adaptations
Austria implemented the GDPR through the DSG. The MCS checks cookie consent, privacy policy and data processing agreements under Austrian law.
DACH Citation Consistency
For Austrian businesses with DE/CH customers: NAP consistency (name, address, phone) across all three countries.
